3D Paper Art project

TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT – THIS STEP BY STEP SHOWS HOW TO MAKE THIS BEAUTIFUL THREE DIMENSIONAL ROSE ARTWORK FROM A PAPER NAPKIN. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT YOU COULD DO THIS WITH A PAPER NAPKIN? HANG IT ON A WALL OR USE IT AS AN ORNAMENT, YOUR FRIENDS WILL BE AMAZED WHEN YOU TELL THEM YOU MADE IT!  By Jo Etheridge from Izzii.

You will need:

European 3 ply napkin (or similar)

Small 10cm x 10cm Artist Canvas

Rico Napkin Glue

Scissors

Glitter (optional)

Method

          Step 1
We used a European 3 ply napkin for this project, available from gift shops and cook shops. Cut approx. one third off and put on one side. Place the napkin face up on to a plastic bag. Soak the napkin with Rico Napkin Glue. Leave to dry overnight.
      Step 2
Choose a complementary section of the napkin you put to one side and cut out a square to fit a small artist canvas. The one we used is a 10cm x 10cm. Remove the back two layers of the napkin. It’s very important that you remove both layers. Lay the napkin on to the canvas, with the design facing up and paint Napkin Glue all over. Leave it to dry.
    Step 3
Once the large napkin piece is dry, draw three circles approx. 6 – 8cm in diameter and another one about half the size.
Cut out the circles, then starting from the outer edge cut the circles in to a continuous spiral.
    Step 4
Starting at the outer edge, roll the spiral to make the rose shape. Once fully wound, use a good quality craft glue to glue the end to stop it unwinding. Do this for the three larger flowers and the small one.
Cut some leaves out of the remaining napkin and position them on the canvas. Once you are happy with the position, fix in place with craft glue. You can add glitter highlights to the roses by painting the edge of the flower with Napkin Glue and then sprinkling glitter on to the wet glue
