Aus Quilts to France

Aus Quilts
head to France

BRENDA GAEL SMITH, QUILTER AND MORE RECENTLY CURATOR OF FABULOUS EXHIBITIONS, HAS BEEN DUSTING OFF HER SUITCASE, SHARPENING UP HER ‘FRANCAIS’ AND EYEING OFF GARDEN SNAILS IN A WHOLE NEW WAY AS THEY SLOWLY PASS BY THE SERENDIPITY STUDIO. WHY?

Well, she’s off to France to teach at the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork/ European Patchwork Meeting which celebrates its 20th anniversary in Alsace, France from 18-21 September.

I hope she’s booked excess baggage because she’ll also be taking along an exhibition of absolutely scrumptious Australian quilts. If there is anyone in Europe who doesn’t yet realise that Australians are exceptionally clever at quilting, this display should alert them to the fact.

Take a peek at what Brenda has collected – CLICK on this title Australia Quilts: Exceptional Quilts from the Great Southern Land.

Bon voyage Brenda and thank you for being a fabulous ambassador for Australia!

  1. Another wonderful collection of Australian works put together with inspiration. I have recently seen the Living Colour collection on display at the Bunker Gallery in Coffs Harbour – this is also curated by Brenda Gael Smith. An excellent display with much to admire and think about.

  2. I agree Judith, the Living Colour exhibition is superb. It will travel to the Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair in October and also to Adelaide Craft & Quilt Fair in November so there is still a chance to see it.

  3. The quilts chosen for the exhibition show the true depth of talent we have in Australia. The fresh ideas and techniques used are sure to inspire all that view them, well done to Brenda Gael Smith for recognising the individual creativity shown in each piece.
