Brand new whitework designs from Vetty Creations
Yvette Stanton has established herself as a talented and experienced embroidery artist and now runs a successful online business, Vetty Creations. She has published a range of books on embroidery covering a number of techniques include hardanger, mountmellick and Ukrainian drawn thread embroidery.
If you have always thought you would like to try whitework embroidery but weren’t sure where to start then Yvette’s new whitework kits, that involve creating a small embroidery design to top a decorative tin, might be just what you’re after. They are a great smaller project for those who enjoy embroidery but are just looking for a smaller project to tackle or you could make one as a gift. The tins are approximately 7.5cm diameter and 5cm high.
Yvetty currently has three kits available, each featuring a different style of whitework embroidery: Mountmellick embroidery (from Ireland), Hardanger embroidery (from Norway) and Sardinian knotted embroidery (from Sardinia, Italy).
The kits include step-by-step instructions for the embroidery and construction; the thread, fabric, needles, liberty print bias binding, tin, wadding, adhesive, and all other materials required. For the Mountmellick kit you will also need a small embroidery hoop to work the embroidery.
Yvette says of the kits, “They are designed as introductions to the style of embroidery featured, so are suitable for beginners and up. The Hardanger and Sardinian ones are possibly more suited to people who have embroidered before, so are slightly more advanced than the Mountmellick one, as they involve counting the fabric threads.”
The kits cost $30 each with more designs planned for the future.
