Craft for Kids Foundation – a new charity

Expertise Events has introduced a new initiative in 2016 – the Craft for Kids Foundation. The Foundation collects craft supplies and shares them with various children’s charities.

The Craft for Kids Foundation will donate craft supplies to charities that care for Australian children who are physically, emotionally, financially or geographically disadvantaged. It is more than just a monetary donation, it’s about wanting to make a difference and touch the community. It has been a long time in the development and is about real national coverage and making a difference.

Gary Fitz-Roy, Managing Director of Expertise Events said, “Craft allows children to explore their creativity and is pure expression through their eyes with no rules or boundaries. The materials they work with are tactile, colourful and varied and provide children of all capacities to explore and have the satisfaction of making something as a gift or to keep”.

In addition, Expertise Events craft experts Judy Newman and Marianne Roberts are planning to go on location and conduct workshops with children two to four times per year.

“I am thrilled with the immediate support from our partners and exhibitors, including our logistics supplier Agility, and media production company, Jingletown offering their support without hesitation, it is very gratifying”, Gary added.

Charities supported by Craft for Kids Foundation include Variety Club, The Smith Family, Royal Far West Children’s Home, BoysTown and Stewart House.

Send your Stash to a Good Cause: Acceptable craft items include yarn, fabric, paper, lace, glue, braid, craft tools, embellishments. Items that won’t be accepted include: money, unfinished projects, knitting needles, crochet hooks or pattern books.

The response so far has been excellent, with donations from visitors and exhibitors made at the Sydney Stitches & Craft Show in Rosehill in early March. Anyone is welcome to bring in their unwanted craft supplies and place them in the special Craft for Kids Foundation donation box at any Expertise Events craft event – The Stitches & Craft Shows, Craft & Quilt Fairs, AQC, PaperArts and Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo. Alternatively, donations can be posted or delivered to Craft for Kids Foundation at Expertise Events in Frenchs Forest, Sydney.

  1. Would you accept corks? I have a lot which I saved to donate to cork recycling, but my contact for this has retired. Corks and matchboxes used to be accepted by primary school craft departments.

    1. Go to “Give Now” and click on “Donate Corks” It will give you some options as to where to donate corks. All the Best and Take Care! Cathy from CWA Burwood Branch, Victoria.

  2. This is great.I spend a lot of time with my grandkids doing craft. And as they are getting older it really does make a difference. How can individuals get involved other than donations of craft goods. I’m in Melbourne.
