Dear Dad
IT’S DAD’S DAY THIS COMING SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 – MAKE HIM FEEL APPRECIATED WITH A HANDMADE CARD AND FILL IT WITH VOUCHERS FOR KID-POWERED CAR WASHES, LAWN MOWS AND BACK MASSAGES TO SHOW HIM HOW MUCH YOU CARE.
By Judy Newman
These cards are so easy; anyone can make them. It’s just template for any kind of card really – in fact you can choose a special photograph or fun paper and you’ve got a lovely card for any occasion! The trims, eyelets and stitching add a neat touch.

STEP 1. CARD BASE: Fold cardstock in half and crease fold firmly so you have an A5 card.
STEP 2. MAT: Cut one contrasting piece of card 19x13cm for the mat.
EITHER (as for our photograph of geese on pond and moustache card)
TO DECORATE: Cut one 18x12cm piece of patterned paper or take a 5×7 photograph, centre it on the mat card and glue it in place.
Then punch eyelets in each corner and thread each eyelet with a piece of twine or ribbon, knot in place. Centre this component onto the card, glue in place.
OR (as in our family photo card)
Cut one 18x12cm piece of patterned paper, centre it on the mat and glue it in place.
Position a smaller photograph, offset or centred; glue in place using a small amount of glue and avoiding the edges.
Glue the entire decorated mat onto the card, once again using a small amount of glue and avoiding the edges. Using zigzag stitch, machine stitch around the edges of the photo, patterned paper and mat.
STEP 3. Type your message in a bold block font of your choice in large size such as 18 or 24 point and print on recycled paper, or hand write your message.
Cut it out and glue onto your card as desired.
