Jo loves working on commissioned pieces which have included large altar cloths, university banners and pieces for the fashion industry.
She explains…
“I also repair old embroideries and hold exhibitions of my own work every two years. These include large wall hung quilts to fine embroideries. These pieces are mostly based on the human form and often comment on issues I have with modern life!”
Jo has trained at the Royal School of Needlework, followed by City and Guilds Creative Embroidery Parts 1 and 2.
Her ‘100 Faces‘ was on exhibition at SALT in Helensville, NZ last year. See some pieces from this interesting display below.
Additionally, Jo will be teaching three quite different quilt classes at AQC in Melbourne this April (16 – 19, 2015):
HEADS – You will create a stunning appliqué head as a piece of art for your home. (bottom left image)
DESIGN YOUR OWN BLOCK – Use a simple design to create your own unique quilt block!
WORKING WITH CURVES – Learn how to piece all the blocks needed to produce a quilt while piecing curves that are cut using the ‘Cut-A-Round’ ruler.
