Guest Artist Naomi Huntsman
Naomi is a Brisbane-based designer who spends much of her time in her West End Studio designing for her creative business, The Sewloist. Having worked in fashion for many years, Naomi has become a passionate advocate for sustainable practice within the clothing and textiles industry. She loves encouraging people’s self-expression through creativity and is a big believer in making personal connections to our garments and belongings to value them more.
Naomi created The Sewloist with intention to connect with people, foster community and to provide an alternative to fast fashion and fast consumption. Having collected MANY beautiful fabrics over the years from independent sellers, The Sewloist exclusively incorporates remnant and vintage fabrics into all designs.

WORKSHOP: Make a Rag Rug
Join Naomi Huntsman from The Sewloist to learn the technique of making rag rugs from up-cycled fabric and remnants. Using only a safety pin and strips of fabric, you will make the beginnings of a rag rug. A selection of fabrics will be provided, however you are encouraged to bring your own lightweight woven cottons that can be torn into strips. The process will take more than the allocated two hours; you will finish your rag rug at home.
