Alice is now living and working in Melbourne as an artist and freelance illustrator. She works mostly in paper collage and uses traditional cut and paste techniques, painting and preparing beforehand. Then, she cuts and designs her work on watercolour paper or board to create intricately detailed, textured illustrations. For her illustrative work, Alice adds digital design and media to make things more interesting.
Alice is extremely passionate about creating playful and expressive images that are rich in narrative, character and meaning and explore themes relating to nature and femininity. Her aesthetic draws on diverse influences, including picture book illustrators from her childhood, Medieval and folk imagery as well as twentieth century design and Modern art movements.
Alice has taken time out of her busy schedule illustrating children’s books to teach at Melbourne Stitches & Craft. Her classes will run in two hour sessions on Sunday, November 26 with start times at 10.30am and 1.30pm. Learn to make a beautiful botanical collage or get festive with making gorgeous collaged Christmas cards. There are still some spots left. Please book at craftevents.com.au!
