Make your Mother’s Day Card

Every mum loves to receive precious hand-made goodies. Sonia Thomason, scrapbooker and tutor at the upcoming Brisbane Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo shares two gorgeous card ideas. And send us pics of your handmade cards and you could WIN a great lamp!

 

CARD 1


You will need:

Cardstock
Patterned paper
1 large flower and flower centre
2 large leaves
Ribbon/trim approx 5cm wide and 14.5cm long
3 jewel embellishments
Chipboard heart and quote
Row of pearls 14.5cm long

Method

  1. Trim a piece of cardstock to measure 15cm x 24cm and fold in half so the front of the card measures 12cm in height and 15cm in length.
  2. Trim a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller than the front of your card (approx 11.5cm x 14.5cm) and sand the edges of the paper. Adhere your patterned paper onto the front of your card.
  3. Take your piece of ribbon/trim and place across the card approx 0.75cm from the bottom of the card. Attach your row of pearls along the bottom of your trim.
  4. Adhere your flower with its flower centre to the card with two leaves next to it.
  5. Place your chipboard heart at the top left of your flower. Place your word quote to the right hand side of the flower and above the trim
  6. Adhere your 3 jewel embellishments to the top right hand side of your card.

 

CARD 2

You will need:

Cardstock
Patterned paper
Large flower with flower centre
2 pieces of ribbon/trim 14.5cm long
4 leaves
Chipboard word

 

Method

  1. Trim a piece of cardstock to measure 15cm x 24cm and fold in half so the front of the card measures 12cm in height and 15cm in length.
  2. Trim a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller than the front of your card (approx 11.5cm x 14.5cm) and sand the edges of the paper. Adhere your patterned paper onto the front of your card.
  3. Take your pieces of ribbon/trim and place across the card with the bottom piece approx 0.75cm from the bottom of the card. Overlap the two pieces.
  4. Adhere your flower with its flower centre to the centre of the card with two leaves either side.
  5. Adhere your chipboard word to the top right of the flower.
