Pixel Quilting
ANDI HERMAN FIRST LEARNED TO QUILT AT EIGHT YEARS OF AGE WHEN HER GRANDMOTHER WAS MAKING HER ONE AND ONLY PATCHWORK QUILT. TWENTY YEARS LATER, ANDI RETURNED TO QUILTING FOR THERAPY AND TO RE-CONNECT WITH HER GRANDMOTHER, WHO WAS NEARING THE END OF HER LIFE.
by Mindy Cook
Since then, Andi has the quilting bug, and has made hundreds quilts of various sizes and styles. She has a fabric stash that could make another 200 quilts (and then some) and she is constantly learning new tips, tricks and ideas to incorporate into her quilting work.
Andi and her husband Dan and webmaster John have created YouPatch, a small company dedicated to bringing craft and technology together.
At www.youpatch.com you can turn any digital image into a comprehensive pixel quilt pattern, complete with yardage requirements, cutting and assembly instructions and full color diagrams to make pixel quilt making accessible for any quilt-maker. The patterns contain a range of large colour plates showing you your image, and how it can be broken down into make-able blocks.
At the Show she will also be available to answer your crafty questions and hear about your quilt design ideas. Andy looks forward to meeting as many of you there as she can!
