Materials* 70cm of 150cm-wide fabric OR 90cm of 140cm-wide fabric OR 1.3m of 110cm-wide fabric OR 1.5m of fabric for a one-piece method (any width fabric more than 65cm wide) ++ Thread to match *Allow more fabric if matching a pattern or using a one-way design Finished size: 60cm square which suits a 65cm cushion insert if you want a nice overstuffed look. Note. 1.5cm seam allowance is included. Please read through the instructions before you start this project.
STEP 1: FRONT: Cut one piece 63cm square. BACK: Cut two 63cm x 43cm pieces.
STEP 2: On one long edge of each back piece, turn and press under 0.5cm then 1cm. Topstitch two rows close to the first folded edges.
STEP 3: Place the Front right side up. Lay one Back piece right side down, aligning it with one end of the Front and positioning the hemmed edge across the centre.
STEP 4: Place the remaining Back piece on the opposite end of the Front in the same way so there is an overlap of the hemmed edges. Pin the pieces together then stitch them, reinforcing the overlapping areas with a few extra stitches and pivoting at the corners. STEP 5: Trim the seam allowances, reducing the bulk at corners, then overlock or zigzag the raw edges together. Turn right side out and use a pointed tool such as a chopstick to push corners out to create sharp points.

Cut one 143cm x 63cm piece of fabric. Hem each 63cm edge. Placing right sides together, fold 40cm of each hemmed edge in towards the centre so the hems overlap to give a 63cm square.
Stitch side seams, trim then overlock or zigzag the edges to finish them. Turn right side out, and push out corners.
Fabric used in this project was Fanfare blue from No Chintz. It is a linen and rayon mix. If you intend to use your covers as bed linen you may want to choose a fabric that is easy to launder such as pure cotton.
No Chintz is a regular exhibitor at selected Craft & Quilt Fairs.
