Quilt Show Winners
THERE HAVE BEEN THREE STATE QUILT SHOWS IN RECENT MONTHS SO WE THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD TIME TO SHOW YOU A FEW OF THE WINNING QUILTS. |
In Melbourne: Best of Show went to Linda White with her work Elenor Jean, a spectacular hexagon shaped piece, composed of hexagons, and which also won the Traditional Professional Category.
In Sydney: Best of Show went to Janet Treen which made her Best of Show winner for two years in a row. Her quilt this year was Coxcomb and Currants, a exquisite reproduction of an antique quilt she had admired on the internet but was unsuccessful in purchasing. |

This was the first exhibition in the interim venue at Glebe Island and everyone was astounded by the wonderful natural light that flooded in through the translucent ceiling, showing the quilts off to their very best advantage: |
Congratulations to all the winners – and to all the entrants who make the show a show for all to enjoy! The Queensland Quilt Show will be held in conjunction with the Craft & Quilt Fair in Brisbane, October 8 – 12, and the Quilters’ Guild of South Australia Inc will hold their Festival of Quilts with the Craft & Quilt Fair in Adelaide, November 13 – 16.
Then at the Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC) in Melbourne, April 16 – 19, 2015, one of the 2014 Best of Show state winners will win the Australian National Quilt Award.
It’s always a joy to be present at the Awards Ceremony and to see the winners’ faces light up as they accept their well-deserved award. At Sydney’s Craft & Quilt Fair this year we also caught up with the Expertise Events’ sponsored prize-winner Liesel Moult with her exquisite appliqué work In the Night Garden, based on a pattern by Sue Cody. Liesel took out the award for predominantly appliqué (amateur category) and we couldn’t wipe the smile off Liesel Moult’s face as you can see in the video!
