Quilter: Faye Packham

FAYE MADE HER FIRST HEXAGON QUILT WHILE STILL AT SCHOOL.

words: Mindy Cook

Her quilting was put on hold while her twins were young, but after attending a workshop with Lessa Siegele in 1991 she became involved in the quilting world.

Faye was awarded life membership to the Quilters Guild of South Australia Inc in recognition of her work for the guild over many years. She is an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor of patchwork and loves to inspire all her students. Faye particularly loves teaching machine pieced, easy technique workshops.

In 2014, Faye was also awarded the Lut-Da Award, an award for quilters who have made an outstanding contribution to their community through quilting. In 2008 she came up with an idea to raise money for Bedford Industries – a state-wide organisation which trains and provides employment and residential services for thousands of people with disabilities, including her own daughter.

“The Lut-Da award was a most unexpected surprise and I feel humble and honoured. I have many amazing friends I have met on my journey.”

Her warm, cheerful personality and generous nature is always present as she works to help make a difference in the lives of Bedford clients, and working through the world of quilting is just one of the ways she has been able to help.

Faye is teaching two classes at the Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC) next April. These classes lots of fun and perfect for all skill levels – particularly beginner quilters.

We asked Faye what quilters could expect in her classes:

“For beginners my classes offer the opportunity to learn in a relaxed atmosphere and pick up heaps of tips and tricks so your finished quilt will have a professional look. And experienced quilters can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, no pressure workshop with lots of tricks and tips to enhance their finished quilt.”

PLUS there’s a fabulous sewing machine offer for first time delegates to her AQC 2015 classes:

Take home the Singer Brilliance Sewing Machine for just $199 (RRP $599)!

For all the details on Faye’s classes AND the Singer Sewing Machine offer, AND to book your place at the early bird special price, visit AQC today. Be quick as some classes have already sold out!
