A Stellar Online Exhibition
THE DECORATE A STAR COMPETITION FOR THE ‘MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION’ WAS ANOTHER HUGE SUCCESS AT THE CRAFT & QUILT FAIR IN SYDNEY.
Conducted by the Folk & Decorative Artists Association of Australia, it was also a fruitful fundraiser.
And the Society of Folk & Decorative Artists of Victoria Inc also raised funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia with a ‘Y-FRONT Undies Competition! Entrants were to paint or decorate a pair of Y-front undies … tastefully. And for those a who prefered something a little more sedate, there was the ‘Clipboard Competition’ – where entrants were invited to paint or decorate the common old clipboard to make it a masterpiece to hang in your kitchen, bedroom, laundry, or perhaps dad’s garage. The possibilities were endless!
They formed part of the FDAA display at The Stitches & Craft Show in Melbourne, 2013.

Entrants were asked to decorate an MDF star with any medium they desired, as long as it had a Christmas theme. Visitors to the fair were the judges. They chose Kari Smith’s Australian-Bush-Christmas inspired piece as the winner. Votes for second place went to Chris Roy for a gorgeous gumnut babies idea and third place went to Leonie Brennan for her Santa & Friend creation. In case you didn’t get to the fair, we thought you would enjoy a browse through this stellar array of entries in this online exhibition.
A total of $3680 was raised for Make A Wish Australia, who grant the wishes of children and young people with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
