The Best of QuiltCon 2019
QuiltCon is the annual conference and judged show of the Modern Quilt Guild. The event was held in Nashville Tennessee in February and the Adelaide Craft & Quilt Fair is privileged to be hosting a selection of quilts from the judged show – their first overseas stop on their world tour. The Best of QuiltCon 2019 exhibition contains 20 stunning modern quilts including Best of Show Smile by Leanne Chahley Lethbridge. Other award winning quilts to be featured include: Separated by Valerie Lubereci (People’s Choice), Hunt Harriot Quilt by Carolyn Friedlander (First Place Appliqué), Infinite Magnification by Christine Perrigo (First Place Modern Traditionalism) and Eclat by Sophie Zaugg (First Place Piecing). The quilts in this exhibition exemplify the innovative design and craftsmanship of the modern quilting movement.
The founding guild of the Modern Quilt Guild was formed in Los Angeles in October 2009 when members of an ever-growing online modern quilt movement decided they would like to meet face-to-face. From that first meeting, the Modern Quilt Guild has grown to over 14,000 members in more than 200 guilds in 39 countries around the world.
